hatori-sohma said: “You left me sore for THREE DAYS afterwards last time, Shigure. If you do that again, I’ll never forgive you.”
“It’s not my fault you’re so tight, if you don’t get use to it now then you never will! Come Hari, take it like a man!”
“Have you ever heard of foreplay, Shigure? Just jumping on top of me like a dog in heat, yes, that certainly gets me in the mood. Such a charmer, you are.”
Please make sure to never tell Hatori that his zodiac form is ‘cute,’ I can’t guarantee your safety afterwards. However, haha, I’m glad! Hatori is quite a few people’s favorite, including mine. Glad to have you here!
Akari made mental note to ensure that his newest hire was given a detailed floor plan. Pleased to see that Dr. Sohma had taken it upon himself to scribble down notes as they walked, he furrowed his brows slightly.
It would be most unfortunate if Hirato frightens him off. He’s the only seemingly-competent hire I’ve made in months.
He stopped in front of a door and slid it open. “Before we begin our tour proper, I’d like to show you your new office. I hope you’ll find it comfortable.” Akari often relegated his interns to the most cramped spaces Research Tower had on offer; it was inevitable that they quit after a few weeks, anyway. Either the workload or Hirato caused them to come undone. But Dr. Sohma was clearly exceedingly qualified and given that the man would doubtless become his lover’s new target, Akari did what he could to sweeten the deal, so to speak. He ushered the brunet into a spacious, well-lit area with ample shelf space and even a small examination room too the side. “You can, of course, furnish as you see fit. And should you need living quarters, one of my administrative assistants would be happy to secure them for you.”
“I think the best use of your talents would be for you to serve as a “floater” – that is to say, you will primarily conduct research and development on varuga anti-toxin. When your expertise is needed, however, I would expect you to be on call for particularly complicated or exploratory surgeries and medical consultation. Would this be a problem for you?”

It took the introduction of him having a private office to finally garner the doctor’s full attention, looking up from his notepad. Xanadu orbs widened, admiring the luxury office he was just shown- he was an intern, he hadn’t work an hour here at the corporation and already he was being given such fine benefits. This was a nice change of pace from working for his family, who while paid him handsomely, never kept his comfort or needs in mind. Their poor treatment was more than made up for in his hefty yearly salary.
“This is exquisite,” Hatori breathed, admiring the decor of the minimalistic-styled room. Very attuned to his tastes already- Hatori was a man of luxury and the finer things in life, and this office was already up to his admittedly high standards. The walls lined with bookshelves was an exciting sight, though he had turned one of his spare bedrooms into a personal library back at home, he was still at a loss on where to keep his overflow of literature. Perhaps now the struggle could be over if he were able to fill these bookshelves up as well. He took the time to examine the room languidly, long fingers tracing the edge of the desk that was soon to be his, and soon to be absolutely covered in paperwork, no doubt. He wanted to admire it bare and clean before he filled it with his books and files.
He glanced over his shoulder towards his superior. “The gesture is very much appreciated. This office is magnificent. Coming in as intern, I hardly thought I’d receive such treatment.” This of course left Hatori with one question- if this is my office, what in the world does Akari’s office look like?
The thought was awe-inspiring.
At the researcher’s question, Hatori gave a confirmatory nod. “I am trained and qualified in both fields, I will go where you need me. I can be very flexible.” …Which wasn’t a lie, he would do whatever it was he needed to do when it came to work. While Hatori did completely submerge himself in his career willingly, it was in his personal life that he was a very rigid, and difficult-to-please man. He just had very precise, meticulous, distinct tastes. "Dr. Dezart, you mentioned the varuga anti-toxin, shall I place that at the forefront of my objectives list?“
“Yeah yeah….” He slowly nodded, rubbing the back of his head. “I’m Hideki Sohma.” He sighed, running his hands through his hair and his face clearly showing distress and anxiety.
“I wanna erase that I’ve ever had it and married my wife….Er, i guess you call it my daughter…” He sighed out “It killed my wife….it’s the reason i don’t have her here with me anymore.” All the man wanted to do was just forget his wife and child, the pain of knowing both of them was just too much for him. And he needed to hurt before the child he wished to forget would come home.
{♞} — Realization came to him all too quickly. His wife, his daughter– no, this man couldn’t even say the word ‘daughter’ without cringing.. He just kept calling her… ‘It.’ This man was blonde, with striking blue eyes that were reddened from lack of sleep and stress. It was his features that gave him away. He looked just like her.
Just like Mei.
“I…” Hatori trailed, blanching as the wheels in his brain began whirling at a rapid pace. This was Mei’s father, and he wanted to erase his daughter. Mei had been looking for him for so long, she missed him so dearly… Now the man finally returned, just to rid himself of the two things that should be the most important things in the world to him.
Hatori felt sick.
His blood was boiling, all he was able to get out, was: “Mei. Your daughter… Is Mei Sohma?”
“It’s not so bad once you’re a creature of the night..Humans are nothing more than sustenance.” He smiled, lifting a hand to brush back Hatori’s dark hair.
“You’d be a lovely vampire!” Aya decreed. “My beautiful little pet.” He whispered. “You shall be mine.” The demon acted immediately, like a flash of light in the night. His hands clutched Hatori’s shoulders, pushing him down and feasting upon his throat. Ayame straddled his hips, his body aroused by creating his monster. Blood flooded his mouth and dribbled down the doctor’s throat, bringing him to the very edge of death.
“Now you must keep yourself alive.” Pearly teeth pierced his own wrist before holding it just above his victim’s lips. “Drink.”
{♞} —
Hatori groaned throatily, the pain washing over him in stormy, rocky waves. A chill ran down his spine as he flailed helplessly, before finally going limp as his body was drained of nearly all his life source. Blinking slowly, Hatori felt cold. He was shivering, freezing all the way down to the tips of his toes. He watched the red ceiling above him start to fade away, as his vision went black and he drifted in and out of consciousness. This was it. This was his fate.
The monster had lied, Hatori was dying. The last remaining light in soul was beginning to flicker out as he danced on the brink of death, the edge of an endless, eternal sleep taking hold.
Suddenly, he heard the word drink reach his ears, swirling around his hazy mind, the word all but losing meaning. Then, the hunger set in. The desire, the will to live took hold, and grey eyes shot open, reddened, maddened hues darting around the room. Grabbing Ayame’s wrist in his grasp, he brought it up to his lips and began drinking.
Hurriedly, he began sucking the man he’d soon call his sire dry, gulping down large amounts of blood and feeding hungrily. Their positions changed as Hatori’s strength began coming back ten fold, and he shoved the vampire off the top of him. Hatori mounted Ayame, climbing and sitting on top of him now, but the wrist never left his lips. Both of his hands were wrapped painfully tight around the monster’s arm, keeping it in place as he fed. His breathing through his nose came out in ragged breaths, but he showed no sign of slowing. He wouldn’t stop until he felt full, until Ayame was empty.
Akari glanced at his watch. Technically it was his lunch hour so he was free. Taking Dr. Sohma on a tour would familiarize him with the layout of the facility and allow him to see the procedure for performing rounds.
“Yes, I believe I can spare the time. We’ll get you a floor plan but in the meantime, I hope you have a stellar memory. This is a very large facility and rather labyrinthine.”
He gestured his newest hire to follow him out the door, slipping into his lab coat in the process. “There are two major towers here,” he began, leading Dr. Sohma down the hallway. “This one is primarily dedicated to research; the other serves as a hospital and teaching clinic for Kuronomei students. We’ll begin with the research division.”
{♞} —
Hatori gave a soft hum under his breath, reaching into the breast pocket of his blazer to fish out a pen and a small, pocket-sized notebook. Immediately, he began jotting down things as he strolled alongside Akari, making sure to detail anything he thought note-worthy. Though his comprehensive memory was definitely his best asset, the doctor wasn’t comfortable without extensive memorandum at his disposal. He was self-admittedly a bit of an obsessive scribe.
“Ah, no, the size of the facility won’t overwhelm me. I’ve worked on my family’s massive estate my entire life, it spans over ninety acres. Once I’ve been given a floor plan, it shouldn’t be an issue,” Hatori assured, not glancing up from his notes. “I do thank you for your concern, however.”
At the mention of Kuronomei, he nodded sagely. “Yes, I’ve done my research on the school, Dr. Dezart. As far as I’m aware, the students study and train there before being employed by Circus, correct? I assume I’ll be spending most of my time in the hospital wing, or the research tower. Whichever one you’d need my expertise in.”
✿–; “Sensei, I…I
understand that you think that…You know
but it’s different….To see…to see it. To see it f-fully
it’s…not…Pleasant. I-I know I’m not…I know I’m not pretty, and
I,” she didn’t want him to see it. To him perhaps she still
remained a lovely young girl but she was no such thing. At his touch
she listened to his request and she stared out at the chlorine filled
waves before her.
She couldn’t bear to look at him and as she peered down and aught sight of her blighted face in the pool she winced. “I don’t want you to see how…It’s not something. I think…If you saw me you wouldn’t see me any more. You’d only see what I wasn’t.” Just a broken girl.
The water embraced her leg like a gentle embrace. She wanted to submerge herself completely. “If I went in. I,” she didn’t want to be like Scylla or Medusa. She could never bear it if he were to flee from her or see her entirely. “I’m sorry…” he deserved to be around someone whole.
Hanako understood that her request seemed unreasonable. Foolish, childish, stupid. She knew it. Hanako swallowed and slowly loosened her grip on the robe. As the plush fabric exposed a portion of her chest. “If I went in, I wouldn’t be able…to apologize to you enough.”
{♞} —
“Hanako, stop apologizing for your existence,” Hatori interjected, perhaps a bit more jarringly than he had intended. After a moment, long fingers carded through his hair, sighing. “What I am trying to say, is that you survived. Whatever it is that you’ve been through, you lived. That in and of itself is a miracle. You need to stop apologizing for existing. You are here. You take up space. You matter. Of course, if you feel as if you’ve done something wrong, you can always apologize. However, apologizing for your body, for your scars, for who you are… I won’t accept it.”
His thin body angled towards her, watching her amethyst hues closely. “You are basing your self-worth and attractiveness due to shallow, superficial factors. I find people attractive not based on their aesthetics, but on their personality and heart. I happen to think you have a very nice heart, your body is of no importance to me. Besides, Hanako, I am your elder, and a well-seasoned physician, no less. I have seen much, much worse than what you perceive your body to be. Do you understand?”
Reaching over, his fingers tugged at the long, thick sleeve of her pink robe, examining the fluffy fabric. “I will always seeyou, Hanako. Your appearance means nothing to me, it could never change my view of who you are. I’m actually quite offended that you think of me as someone who could be so shallow.” With those curt, stern words murmured, Hatori scooted closer to the edge of the water, before slipping in. The deep end of the pool came up to his shoulders, as Hatori was rather tall. He waded closer to her, looking up at her stunning face framed by violet locks. His hand reached up, wrapping gently around the calf of hers that was submerged in the water.
Hatori is rather tall, he’s 6′, so height is a good advantage for him.
✣ :Physical disability/disadvantage
Hatori is only 68kg, or 150lbs. He is rail thin.
✪ :Critique they have about others
Others do not seem to want to put in the effort to work for what they want. The Sohma family is huge, and terribly spoiled. Hatori is one of the few who has worked himself down to the bone to accomplish his goals, many of the others just expect things to be handed to them. It frustrates Hatori to no end.
By the way, don’t worry about that! I always answer repeat questions, and give a different answer each time. If someone takes the time to ask you a question, they deserve an answer. Plus, it really makes me work my brain and knowledge on Hatori to give multiple answers to a single question.
